ABOUT Singing From The Center

Sue Govali Singer

Sue originally started Singing From The Center as a book and audio CD program. Although the program received great results, it’s much easier to understand the tutorials with a visual explanation. And so Singing From The Center Mark II was born. The shoots were created in June 2008 in San Francisco and San Diego (we’d  like to give out a big thanks to all the people involved in this project. You can find links to all of them here.)

The original concept was to sell the video on DVD, but we found it more effective to make it an online members website. Ah! We thought, it’s only going to take a few months, and 18 months later the site was opened. In that time it grew from simple online tutorials, to encompass an ever-growing articles section and members forum, thus creating an online community.

I’m a British singer now living in San Francisco, where I gig, teach and run a recording studio. There’s a brief bio here, and you can hear samples of me singing a self-penned album here.

Prior to moving to the US in ’99, among other gigs I worked as a singer with the legendary rock band The Moody Blues, touring the US and Europe extensively.

Prior to that, I ran the jazz-fusion band ‘Sky Island’ with fellow musician Terry Disley. The band toured the UK, were recorded for TV and radio, and played regularly at such London clubs as Ronnie Scott’s and The Jazz Café.

I also attended the Guildhall School Of Music and worked as a session singer on many albums, jingles and cover tracks for radio and TV.

I have also done many, many, many, many, many, many gigs. And not all of them out of choice!

Enjoy the site!
